About this report
This report has been prepared in accordance with the Requirements for annual reports for departments, executive agencies and FMA Act bodies, approved by the Joint Committee of Public Accounts and Audit and published by the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet in July 2012.
The report incorporates the Department of Resources, Energy and Tourism, and Geoscience Australia. It reports on performance against outcomes, deliverables and key performance indicators, as outlined in the Department's Portfolio Budget Statements and Portfolio Additional Estimates Statements.
Geoscience Australia is a prescribed agency within the Resources, Energy and Tourism Portfolio. Under the Public Service Act 1999, Geoscience Australia forms part of the department for annual reporting purposes.
The remaining organisations that fall within the portfolio during this financial year—the National Offshore Petroleum Safety and Environmental Management Authority, Tourism Australia, the Australian Solar Institute and the Australian Renewable Energy Agency—prepare their own annual reports.
