Welcome to the department’s careers information pages. Here you will find all the information you need to know about your future career in the department and our approach to recruiting and developing our people.
The Department uses innovative approaches to recruit the best people for our roles.
The department has implemented a streamlined approach to recruitment to facilitate faster selection processes and offers of employment. We no longer use selection criteria for applications and, where relevant, we use online assessments to determine the suitability of candidates for roles. Many of our APS level roles are filled through our ‘Work Ready’ campaign. This is a rolling campaign designed to establish merit pools of suitable candidates for placement as vacancies arise, rather than advertising specific vacancies. If you are an experienced, professional, adaptable and motivated individual we invite you to review the information about the Work Ready programmes to view all of our current vacancies and Work Ready campaigns.
Our vision is to enable growth and productivity for globally competitive industries. To help realise this vision, the Department has four key objectives: supporting science and commercialisation, growing business investment and improving business capability, streamlining regulation and building a high performance organisation.
