Food and Agribusiness Growth Centre

The Food and Agribusiness Growth Centre, known as Food Innovation Australia Ltd (FIAL), is building capability and encouraging collaboration and innovation in the Australian food and agribusiness sector. FIAL is chaired by Mr Peter Schutz and led by a small board and team who have significant industry experience.

FIAL’s vision is that by 2025, Australia’s Food and Agribusiness industry is working together to grow the share of Australian food in the global marketplace.

FIAL has developed a Sector Competitiveness Plan with the food and agribusiness sector. The plan is a ten-year strategy that identifies challenges, opportunities and priority actions required to increase the sector’s competitiveness. The plan, developed during FIAL’s national consultations in May-June 2016 with the food and agribusiness sector, identifies priority areas for research and regulatory issues. The plan sets out the actions needed to ensure that Australia’s food and agribusiness sector is best placed to respond to the increase in global demand for food, and for the sector to remain globally competitive through increased productivity.

FIAL is encouraging innovation in new and existing businesses, increasing levels of collaboration, smoothing the path to access international markets and global supply chains and reducing regulatory burden.
