Supplier Advocates and Buy Australian at Home and Abroad

Following the release of the Federal budget, a number of initiatives managed by the Department of Industry were discontinued, including Supplier Advocates and Buy Australian at Home and Abroad.

The Government has committed to support small to medium enterprises (SMEs) through two new programmes - the Entrepreneurs' Infrastructure Programme and the Industry Skills Fund.  They will be delivered through a Single Business Service Model, a simplified channel for industry to interact with government.

The $484.2 million Entrepreneurs' Infrastructure Programme offers market and industry information, business management and commercialisation advice, access to researchers and connections with supply chains and markets.  The Industry Skills Fund, which will commence on 1 January 2015, has allocated $476 million to create a more effective skills and training system and will have a particular focus on developing employee skills.  Further information on these initiatives is available at www.business.gov.au
