Bilateral minerals and energy cooperation with Taiwan
The Joint Energy and Minerals, Trade and Investment Cooperation Consultations (JEMTIC) provides an opportunity for representatives from Australia and Taiwan to exchange information on developments in their respective minerals and energy sectors, identify opportunities for technical cooperation and investment, discuss developments in world energy markets and promote two-way trade and investment.
Twenty JEMTIC consultations have been held since 1992. The most recent JEMTIC consultation took place in Darwin, Northern Territory, on 2 and 3 September 2015.
The 21st JEMTIC consultation is being held in Hualien, Taiwan on 6-8 September 2016.
Areas proposed to be covered include:
- An overview of policy developments in both countries;
- Investment and Trade Opportunities in Energy and Minerals;
- Clean and Renewable Energy Cooperation; and
- Enhancement of bilateral cooperation between Taiwan and Australia.
The Australia Taiwan Business Council and ROC–Australia Business Council’s Conference will be held immediately after the JEMTIC on 8-9 September 2015 in Taipei, Taiwan.
