International Space Investment India initiative

The International Space Investment Initiative expansion will support collaborative projects between Australia and India.

The initiative provides funding for Australian companies and research organisations to work with:

  • the Indian Space Research Organisation
  • the Indian space sector.

Maker Projects: Community STEM Engagement Grants

Maker Projects: Community STEM Engagement Grants supports collaborative initiatives that deliver interactive and hands-on science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM)-related activities to youth under 18 years of age.

Moon to Mars Initiative: Demonstrator program

The Demonstrator program provides a pathway to develop and launch products into space, which will create new capability and build space heritage.

The program consists of 2 elements:

  • Demonstrator Feasibility Grants: grants to develop the feasibility of space projects and missions.
  • Demonstrator Mission Grants: grants for space activities at more advanced stages of mission development.

Australian small and medium-sized businesses can access funding to help launch their products into space.

Moon to Mars Initiative: Supply Chain Program

The Supply Chain Program funds projects that deliver products and services to space supply chains.

The Supply Chain Program consists of 2 elements:

  • Supply Chain Capability Improvement Grants: grants for Australian businesses to build capacity to deliver products and services into domestic and international space supply chains.
  • Supply Chain Facilitation: tenders to procure services to facilitate supply chain opportunities.

Moon to Mars Initiative: Trailblazer program

The Trailblazer program is the flagship element of the Moon to Mars Initiative. It supports NASA’s space exploration program and their endeavours to return to the Moon and then go on to Mars.

The Trailblazer program will:

  • contribute flagship Australian space capability to an international space exploration program
  • leverage Australia’s competitive strengths in space and showcase Australian capabilities to the world.

National Reconstruction Fund (NRF)

The National Reconstruction Fund (NRF) will provide finance for projects that diversify and transform Australia’s industry and economy.

Priority areas 

The Australian Government established the National Reconstruction Fund Corporation (NRFC) to support 7 priority areas: 

  • value-add in resources
  • value-add in agriculture, forestry and fisheries 
  • transport
  • medical science
  • renewables and low emission technologies
  • defence capability 
  • enabling capabilities. 

The NRFC will provide finance in the form of debt, equity and guarantees to support Australian projects that drive high-value industry transformation.

National Science Week

National Science Week is Australia’s annual celebration of science and technology. National Science Week Grants provide the opportunity for the community to run science engagement activities across the nation during the week.

Office of National Rail Industry Coordination (ONRIC)

The Office of National Rail Industry Coordination (ONRIC) leads a national coordinated approach to strengthen Australia's rail manufacturing. It will implement the Australian Government's National Rail Manufacturing Plan to create skilled manufacturing jobs by building more trains in Australia.

The office will work closely with industry, government and other bodies to implement the plan. It will:

  • establish a Rail Industry Innovation Council to boost local research and development, skills and capabilities
  • appoint a rail supplier advocate to help small and medium-sized enterprises access opportunities
  • develop a National Rail Procurement and Manufacturing Strategy.
