Office of National Rail Industry Coordination (ONRIC)

The Office of National Rail Industry Coordination (ONRIC) leads a national coordinated approach to strengthen Australia's rail manufacturing. It will implement the Australian Government's National Rail Manufacturing Plan to create skilled manufacturing jobs by building more trains in Australia.

The office will work closely with industry, government and other bodies to implement the plan. It will:

  • establish a Rail Industry Innovation Council to boost local research and development, skills and capabilities
  • appoint a rail supplier advocate to help small and medium-sized enterprises access opportunities
  • develop a National Rail Procurement and Manufacturing Strategy.

Sponsorship Grants for Student Science Engagement and International Competitions

Grants for organisations (such as schools and community groups) to sponsor Australian students to take part in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) engagement activities, events and competitions. Students must be aged under 18.

Superstars of STEM

Superstars of STEM helps raise the profile and visibility of diverse people working in STEM to inspire the next generation. It aims to challenge stereotypes on who can do STEM and what STEM looks like, and offers media training, mentoring and networking. Science and Technology Australia delivers the program.
