Examining algae in a lab

AISRF is the Australian Government’s largest bilateral program dedicated to science. It has supported over 370 collaborative activities since 2006.

Round 16 offers grants from $200,000 to $1 million per project, with $4 million available in total. Collaborations can include joint research projects, workshops, fellowships and institutional partnerships.

This long-running program is reinforcing our strong links with researchers in India, with projects benefitting both countries.

Funded projects include a film to protect solar cells against UV radiation. This project will advance to real world testing. We've also moved closer to developing drought resistant chickpeas. As the world's largest exporter, this research will provide vital knowledge for Australian growers.

To be eligible for this round, projects must address priority areas and challenges common to both Australia and India:

  • critical minerals processing technologies and methods
  • quantum computing and communications
  • remanufacturing and product end-of-use recovery
  • biomanufacturing for industrial and consumer products, including biochemicals, biofuels and novel bio-based materials
  • biotechnology for improved agricultural productivity and climate resilience
  • RNA vaccines and biotherapeutics.
