Growth Centre: NERA
Case study from: Growth Centres Success Stories
Power generation at remote sites has many challenges including efficiency, reliability and carbon emissions. The Industry Growth Centres Initiative is supporting a collaborative project between CD Power in South Australia and Origin Energy in Queensland to pilot a new integrated power solution for a remote coal seam gas well site.
Business in focus: CD Power
Integrating solar, battery storage and gas generation technologies to create a reliable, low carbon and economical alternative power supply for Coal Seam Gas (CSG) wellsites. This wellsite power supply solution will lower operating costs and supply a more reliable outsourced energy solution with higher power availability, while reducing the carbon footprint and noise emissions at wellsites.
The project will receive $140,000 from National Energy Resources Australia (NERA) and has secured matched industry funding of $150,000. It has the potential to lead to further adoption and integration of low carbon power generation across the CSG industry.
To deliver this project, CD Power is hiring staff including mechanical and electrical tradespersons and ex automotive workers, due to their transferrable skills. It is also training new apprentices to skill up its workforce for the future.
CD Power Futures is just one of the many businesses across six sectors unlocking its success with Australia’s Industry Growth Centres Initiative. If your business has unrealised potential, now could be your time.
