Growth Centre: METS Ignited and NERA
Case study from: Growth Centres Success Stories
With help from the Industry Growth Centres Initiative, Perth-based CORE Innovation Hub (CORE) and its collaborative working spaces are helping innovators in the mining equipment, technology and services (METS) and energy resources sectors innovate, create and sell products, services and technologies.
Business in focus: CORE Innovation Hub
CORE Innovation Hub provides a space for operators, suppliers, researchers, entrepreneurs and start‑ups to connect and collaborate on challenges and opportunities across the energy resources and METS sectors.
METS Ignited and National Energy Resources Australia (NERA) have provided funding, expertise and industry connections to establish and assist development of the innovation hub. CORE’s relationship with both Growth Centres has helped accelerate its growth and foster a national focus for its community.
CORE supports a dynamic collaborative and innovative environment through co‑working, capacity-building and networking events and its industry-led CORE Skills professional development programs.
CORE helps companies access networks and resources, driving commercialisation efforts and the development of new products and services. Startup businesses such as AiSpanner, Chironix and Soter Analytics have benefited from access to decision makers in the sector and the support provided by CORE. As Matt Hart, founder of Soter Analytics explains, “Being a member of CORE not only gives us access to this facility in the middle of the Perth CBD, but also access to future customers, collaborators and cross-sector networks as we build a global team and business.”
After only three years, CORE has more than 80 industry members and collaborators, and reciprocal arrangements with other resources hubs in Santiago, Chile, San Francisco and Houston.
CORE Innovation Hub is just one of many affiliates engaged with the Industry Growth Centres Initiative across Australia’s six growth sectors.
