We are seeking your feedback on areas industry has nominated for inclusion in the 2021 Offshore Greenhouse Gas Storage Acreage Release.
The Australian Government releases offshore areas for greenhouse gas storage assessment. Interested companies can bid for a permit to explore a region for potential greenhouse gas storage opportunities.
The offshore storage of greenhouse gas is an important part of the government’s commitment to:
- reducing industry carbon emissions
- supporting Australian industry and creating jobs.
The consultation process is an opportunity to comment on the nominated areas and highlight how you might be affected by exploration activities.
Have your say on our Consultation hub.
Consultation is open until 11.59pm AEDT 12 October 2021.
Your responses will also inform potential explorers of issues or concerns. They can take this into account when planning future exploration activities.
The government will not endorse nominated areas for inclusion in the acreage release until it has considered all submissions.
