Grant applications are open for 2 $3 million grants for blockchain pilots that will demonstrate the potential for blockchain to reduce regulatory compliance burden for businesses.
These grants are funded as part of the Digital Business package announced in the Federal Budget 2020-21.
They will help bolster blockchain literacy and encourage broader adoption of blockchain technology in Australia. That’s in addition to reducing compliance costs for businesses and ensuring buy-in from regulators. These pilots will support the National Blockchain Roadmap objectives by promoting Australian talent, while demonstrating blockchain’s potential to support RegTech and Supply Chains solutions.
One pilot will target the critical minerals sector. The other will look at excise regulation for liquor manufacturers.
Australian start-ups are eligible to apply to participate in the grants process.
