The JMEI encourages investment in small companies that carry out greenfields mineral exploration in Australia. It allows them to convert their tax losses into a tax credit that they can use to attract new investors.
We’re seeking stakeholder and participant feedback on the 2019–20 and 2020–21 JMEI rounds. Industry stakeholders and participants can share their views on the incentive and any evidence of increased exploration or prospecting activity during this period.
We conduct an impact assessment to measure the extra exploration or prospecting for each year of the JMEI. Your responses to this consultation will help us prepare the Annual Impact Assessment (AIA) report.
We may also use your insights from this consultation when considering the incentive’s future beyond 2025.
