Video: Covid-19: Australia responds - SPEE3D
SPEE3D makes manufacturing easier by developing and providing for sale some of the world's most advanced metal 3D printers.
SPEE3D makes printers that work with a variety of metals.
One of our metals copper turns out to be antimicrobial.
We were very fortunate we’ve been able to get funding from the Entrepreneurs’ Programme that has has been very supportive of our activity and NERA the national energy resources growth centre who have provided us with funding to do laboratory testing of our copper material.
Activated copper relies on our Proprietary high-speed kinetic deposition process that our metal 3D printers use.
We worked with 360biolabs in Melbourne to evaluate the performance of our copper printed material against the SARS-CoV-2 virus the one that causes covid-19
The lab test results came back and determined that within 2 hours our material was able to kill 96% of the SARS-CoV- 2 virus that was on its surface.
We’re very pleased we’ve been able to turn this around in a short period of time and be able to offer it as a rapidly deployable solution that might make a difference.
