The Australian Government is committed to providing long term, stable funding for Australian science, research and innovation, as shown in the annual Science, Research and Innovation Budget Tables released today.

The tables show the total investment from across Government is estimated to be $9.6 billion in 2018-19, as well as an additional $600 million in other science, research and innovation related programs and activities.

This funding is increasing over the coming years thanks to the $2.4 billion package of new investments in Australian technology and science announced in the 2018/19 Budget.

Total funding for major direct Research and Development (R&D) programs and activities is increasing across the forward estimates by $854 million.

There is $7.3 billion in direct support for R&D and our national research organisations such as the CSIRO. The tables show that direct investment in R&D will increase over the next three years.
