Attributed to a spokesperson for the Department of Industry, Innovation and Science:
“The Government’s site selection and engagement process, run over several years, has included an extensive and inclusive consultation processes holding many meetings with key stakeholders, including neighbouring landowners and Traditional Owners to provide them with an opportunity to have a say on the project. This process remains ongoing and “we will continue to engage with all members of the local community and welcome discussions with any local groups to address concerns they have”.
“The Department’s role is, generally, to set the relevant policies, provide factual information, and facilitate a process where people can make their views known. In line with this, we are consulting in the communities that have nominated a site to have a conversation about hosting this possible new industry, and we will continue to consult until they make a decision”.
“Our process is inclusive, transparent and robust. We cannot comment on suggestions of a HRC process when no details are currently available.”
