A new Melbourne-based testing facility allows medical mask-makers to test their products locally.
This means more rapid delivery of Australian-standard protection for frontline health workers fighting COVID-19.
Before the CSIRO facility opened on 6 August 2020, samples were sent overseas for testing. This caused production delays.
The National Association of Testing Authorities-accredited facility is now open testing masks and mask materials for:
- breathability
- blood penetration; and
- bacterial filtration efficiency
