COVID-19 has increased the demand for personal protective equipment. We have developed a buyers guide to help you make decisions when buying personal protective equipment.

Due to the COVID‑19 pandemic, the demand for personal protective equipment (PPE) has increased. PPE refers to clothing and equipment used to protect people from injury and infection.

Examples of PPE are:

  • surgical masks
  • gloves
  • hand sanistiser
  • gowns

Some organisations are buying PPE for the first time or from new suppliers. To help you be more confident when buying PPE, we have developed a buyers guide.

The PPE buyers guide is available on business.gov.au.

The guide has information to help you to:

  • understand factors to be aware of when buying PPE
  • keep your workplace safe
  • know your consumer rights
  • protect yourself from fraud

The guide also explains common types of PPE and has links to information on how to use PPE.
