We completed our review of the safety regime for offshore oil and gas workers.
We worked with oil and gas stakeholders to assess the regime. Together we designed reforms aimed to improve the health, safety and welfare of offshore workers.
One of the priority reforms from the review is to introduce a process for early engagement on facility designs. We will also strengthen the role of health and safety representatives.
Other changes include redefining health and the working environment at offshore facilities. We are clarifying that health protections apply to both physical and psychological health. This will promote the importance of mental health and wellbeing for the offshore workforce.
