The Building Ministers’ Forum (BMF) commissioned this work at its June 2017 meeting and once finalised, the report will provide a basis to improve compliance and enforcement practices in building regulation across Australia.  Ministers are confident that this important work is on track, and relevant stakeholders are providing meaningful input into their considerations.

All Building Ministers are committed to strengthening the effective implementation of the National Construction Code and the work being undertaken by Professor Shergold and Ms Weir is an important step on that path.

The BMF also acknowledges the significant work being undertaken by jurisdictions to address issues relating to building compliance and enforcement including the work of the cladding audits and reviews underway across the states and territories.

Professor Shergold and Ms Weir will provide their final report to the BMF in early 2018.
