3. Communication Strategy

  • ​Datacom will utilise its membership of the Australian Information Industry Association (AIIA) to identify potential suppliers.
  • Potential suppliers can register interest in the project through the Datacom website’s “Contact Us” feature (www.datacom.com.au).
  • Where permitted by the Department of Health, media releases will be issued which outline supply opportunities and provide a contact point for enquiries.
  • Where permitted by the Department of Health, Datacom will advise the “Rust Report” of project opportunities for distribution to subscribers.

4. Opportunities through all tiers of supply and in all stages of the project

  • ​Datacom will utilise standards ISO/IEC 9001 (Quality Assurance System), ISO/IEC 14001 (Environment Management) and ISO/IEC 27000 (Information Security Management Systems).
  • Potential suppliers will be assessed on the following criteria: Quality of the skills and experience, Value for money of the services, and Geographical coverage.
  • The strategies of the AIP Plan will be communicated to suppliers and encourage their implementation in sub‑contracting opportunities.
  • All potential suppliers in a relevant field will be notified of opportunities at the same time.
  • Datacom will include suppliers’ products and services as an option in Datacom’s product/service offerings.

5. Opportunities for longer-term participation

  • Datacom will assist suppliers to develop capacity and capability through investments in R&D or collaboration and promotion of skills throughout the Datacom network.
  • Feedback will be provided to successful and unsuccessful suppliers advising them of perceived strengths and weaknesses.
  • Supplier success stories will be detailed on the Datacom intranet and promoted to the Datacom network.
  • Datacom will promote successful outcomes for suppliers on the “Rust Report” to increase exposure to other ICT companies.
  • Where permitted by the Department of Health, media releases will be issued outlining suppliers engaged and their capabilities.

6. Procedures and Resources

  • Sales staff will be trained in record keeping requirements and maintain centralised AIP Plan records.
  • The AIP Plan will be distributed to the Director’s meeting and promoted as a corporate document to formalise AIP activities.
