3. Communication Strategy

4. Opportunities through all tiers of supply and in all stages of the project

- Roads and Maritime has prequalification and registration schemes for suppliers. The criteria for assessment of the potential suppliers includes financial capacity, organisational capability, company performance , compliance with government requirements, suitability of proposed resources, management system and price.
- Roads and Maritime requires that the head contractor comply with the AIP Plan and include similar requirements in their subcontracts.
- Roads and Maritime Tender documents are made available to all potential suppliers at the same time through the NSW Government ETendering website.
- Roads and Maritime minimises the cost of tendering by using standard forms of contracts.

5. Opportunities for longer-term participation
- Roads and Maritime is an active member of Austroads, which fosters international collaboration by engaging with and supporting international road organisations. Austroads provides SMEs with access to events, publications, webinars and research papers.
- Where relevant, the head contractor will engage with the Department of Industry and Science’s Entrepreneurs Infrastructure Programme, to support the capability development of its subcontractors.
- Roads and Maritime provides training for industry, including SMEs, across a range of activities including traffic management, concrete works, and safety in design.
- Roads and Maritime provides formal feedback to contractors in relation to their performance on the contract every 4 months and at completion of the contract.
6. Procedures and Resources
- Roads and Maritime Contract Manager to monitor the implementation of the project specific Australian Industry Plan through project meetings.
- Roads and Maritime has documented procedures for monitoring and reporting on the implementation of the AIP Plan.
- Roads and Maritime will ensure head contractor reports against actual Australian industry involvement for the project.
- Roads and Maritime will maintain standard contracts which reference the AIP Plan and its requirements.
