The Australian Government has committed $14.8 million to establish the Powering Australia Industry Growth Centre (PAIGC), as part of the 2023–24 Federal Budget.
The PAIGC will help Australian businesses manufacture, commercialise and adopt new renewable technologies, including batteries. Once operational, it will fund activities and provide services to:
- help businesses manufacture renewable energy technologies and commercialise local ideas
- support manufacturers connect with critical minerals processors
- deliver First Nations advisory services to build business management capabilities.
The PAIGC is a commitment under the Australian Made Battery Plan. It complements our other initiatives like the National Reconstruction Fund and upcoming Critical Minerals Strategy. As well as broader Australian Government initiatives like Powering Australia, Rewiring the Nation, and A Future Made in Australia.
Grant opportunity
We are now running a competitive grant process to select an entity to deliver the PAIGC.
Grant guidelines outline requirements, eligibility criteria and the application process. Our recent National Battery Strategy consultation and stakeholder engagement activities informed guideline development.
Find the grant guidelines on business.gov.au. Applications close 19 June.
Note: the PAIGC is not part of the Industry Growth Centres initiative.
