Women in STEM: longitudinal employment outcomes analysis

Date published:
26 July 2024

The Women in STEM longitudinal employment outcomes analysis follows a cohort of students who completed a Higher Education qualification in 2011 and investigates their employment outcomes in 2021.

Our department commissioned the Australian Bureau of Statistics to undertake this longitudinal study.

ABS examined the occupational outcomes of the 2011 cohort of university graduates from 2011 to 2021 using anonymised data through the Person Level Integrated Data Asset (PLIDA).

This includes anonymised data from Higher Education institutions, the Census of Population and Housing and Personal Income Tax Income data.

This allowed ABS to determine income and occupation details through the years from 2011 until 2021 to understand how the cohort of 2011 graduates’ careers progress.
