The Minister for Industry and Science recently awarded Major Project Status, recognising each project’s contribution towards creating economic growth, employment and investment in regional areas.
Cape Hardy Green Hydrogen Project
AMP Solar Group Inc’s Cape Hardy Green Hydrogen Project located in South Australia, will have the capacity to produce over 500,000 tonnes of green hydrogen per year to be used as a feedstock for approximately 3 million tonnes of green ammonia exports per year and/or to be used to support domestic green iron manufacturing.
The precinct will create an estimated 2,000 jobs during construction and over 500 jobs over the life of the project.
Gippsland Dawn Offshore Wind Project
Bluefloat Energy’s Gippsland Dawn Offshore Wind Project will build 140 offshore wind turbines and up to 4 substations in the Gippsland offshore wind area in Victoria. This is expected to generate enough electricity to power around one million homes.
The project will create an estimated 1,950 jobs during construction and about 300 jobs during its 30-year operation.
Gonneville Critical Minerals Project
This $1.6 billion Chalice Mining Ltd project will mine and process critical minerals for use in electric vehicles, energy storage and renewable energy technologies.
The project has the potential to expand our onshore refining industry for precious metals like palladium, which is currently not refined in Australia.
Located within driving distance to Perth, it will create an estimated 1,200 jobs during construction and over 500 jobs when operational.
