Australian Government response to the Senate Standing Committees on Rural and Regional Affairs and Transport report: Current requirements for labelling of seafood and seafood products

Date published:
28 May 2024

Introduction

The Senate Standing Committees on Rural and Regional Affairs and Transport References prepared a report on the matter of current requirements for labelling of seafood and seafood products.

The committees published their report in December 2014

The Australian Government tabled this response in the Senate on 23 May 2024.

Government response

The government notes additional recommendations 1–3 made by former Senator Nick Xenophon. However, given the passage of time since this report was tabled, a substantive government response to these recommendations is no longer appropriate. The government is taking action to enhance country of origin labelling for seafood.
