Youth in STEM report 2023-24

Held between July and August 2023, Australia’s fourth Youth in STEM study surveyed almost 3000 young people about science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM).

The survey measured young Australians’ understanding and perceptions about STEM and looks at differences to the 2021-22 survey

Key metrics include:

  • understanding of the STEM acronym
  • interest, confidence and perceived importance of STEM skills and careers
  • intention to pursue a career in STEM.

YouthInsight (the research arm of Student Edge) carried out the survey for our department.
