Youth in STEM survey 2018–19

Australia’s first youth in STEM survey asked more than 2000 young people about science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM).

The survey helped create a national benchmark of young Australians’ awareness and perceptions of STEM subjects and careers.

Key metrics include:

  • subject selection, awareness, interest, confidence and perceived importance of STEM skills and careers
  • gendered differences in awareness and perceptions of STEM.

YouthInsight (the research arm of Student Edge) carried out the survey for our department.
