About the report

In 2022, the Australian Government appointed an independent panel to lead the Pathway to Diversity in STEM Review. The panel explored ways to improve diversity and inclusion in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM).

The panel drew on a range of evidence and inputs to inform its final report. This included a desktop review of 5 diversity in STEM initiatives to learn what works to support underrepresented cohorts to engage in STEM education and careers.

The following domestic and international diversity in STEM programs were included in the review:

  • Curious Minds
  • Indigenous STEM Education Project
  • Indigenous Girls’ STEM Academy
  • RLabs
  • Maths Multiplies Your Choices.

The program reviews provided the panel additional insights to the ACIL Allen evaluation of women in STEM initiatives our department funds.
