We publish information about payments in accordance with Section 16C of the Remuneration Tribunal Act 1973.
24/12
The department has identified past payments made to committee chairs and members that were not compliant with the Remuneration Tribunal Act 1973.
While these payments were made in good faith, they did not use the correct method for calculating entitlements.
Across the period 2015-16 to 2022-23, 787 payments were identified that were not compliant, totalling $1.85 million.
However, an independently verified review found that the total remuneration paid to each chair and member is unlikely to be materially different to what they were otherwise entitled.
While we do not believe there are any material instances of overpayment or underpayment, we are required to publish instances where payments do not follow the correct method for calculating entitlements.
Since March 2023, the Office of Industry Innovation and Science Australia has been working to ensure IISA committee payments are being made in line with the Remuneration Tribunal Act. This includes introducing new rules and guidance in January 2024, to ensure the right documentation is in place for future payments.
