Professor McClure-Griffiths is an Associate Director and Australian Research Council Laureate Fellow in the Research School of Astronomy & Astrophysics of the Australian National University (ANU). She joined the ANU in 2015 after a 14 year career with CSIRO.

At CSIRO, she held roles as an Office of Chief Executive (OCE) Science Leader and the head of National Facility Science at CSIRO's Australia Telescope National Facility.

Professor McClure-Griffiths’ research team studies interstellar gas and magnetic fields of the milky way and nearby galaxies.

She is co-principal investigator on 2 of the large observational surveys underway with the Australian SKA Pathfinder (ASKAP):

• the Galactic ASKAP survey
• the Polarisation Survey of the Universe's Magnetism (POSSUM).

In addition to her current research, Professor McClure-Griffiths is heavily involved in planning for the SKA project.  She is the chair of the international SKA Science and Engineering Advisory Committee (SEAC).

Professor McClure-Griffiths has a PhD in astrophysics at the University of Minnesota. She has received many honours including:

• 2006 Prime Minister’s Malcolm McIntosh Prize for Physical Scientist of the Year
• 2015 Pawsey Medal of the Australian Academy of Science for contributions to physics
• Fellow of the Australian Academy of Science in 2022.
