Hillary Halim

Hillary is based at the Australian Mission to the European Union in Brussels.

She facilitates the relationship, bilaterally and in all relevant multilateral fora, between Australia and the European region.

This includes the European Union (EU) and its member states, the United Kingdom (UK) and the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).

Hillary’s priorities include:

  • engaging on the development and use of safe and responsible critical technologies, particularly harmonising regulations, standards, and interoperability
  • deepening cooperation on secure and diverse supply chains for critical and strategic minerals and resources  
  • building on the long history of science, research, and innovation collaboration, including in thematic areas of energy transition, raw materials and value chains, critical technology, cooperation in the Indo-Pacific region, space, earth observation, health, research infrastructures, researchers’ training and mobility
  • representing Australia at OECD Committees on science, technology and innovation, industry and entrepreneurship and digital policy.

Hillary has worked in a range of industry, trade and economic, and foreign policy roles. She was most recently responsible for developing Australia’s industrial policy on green metals and decarbonisation of heavy industries.

She has previously served overseas in Paris, France, and Port Vila, Vanuatu. Hillary brings a wealth of private sector experience in Australia’s mining, resources and energy sector.
