Andrew Stead

Andrew Stead has worked with startup founders, early-stage investors and corporate innovation teams, as an adviser, co-founder and board member. 

Through a hands-on approach he has deep expertise in launching, scaling and selling technology businesses, particularly in deep-tech. 

Andrew has led the spinout of 10 new businesses from research organisations. These include AI ventures the Gradient Institute and Fivecast, which raised over $100 million of investment from Australian and international venture capital firms. 

He has broad commercial experience that includes: 

  • leading corporate development for the Humm Group (ASX:HUM)
  • setting up and running IAG’s Firemark Labs an insurtech venture studio
  • leading the successful sales of technology businesses to the likes of Google and Synopsys
  • being the co-founder of Sydney Angels. 

Andrew holds a Bachelor of Science (Honours) from the University of Sydney and an MBA from Macquarie Graduate School of Management. He has completed the Company Directors Course at the Australian Institute of Company Directors and the Officer Commissioning Course at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst. Andrew is also a Churchill Fellow. 

He lives in Newcastle NSW.
