Professor Simon Ellingsen recently took up the role of Executive Director of the International Centre for Radio Astronomy Research (a Joint Venture between Curtin University, UWA and the WA State Government). Before that he was the Dean of Natural Sciences at the University of Tasmania.
Simon is an astrophysicist who has specialised in the study of how the largest stars form, the structure of the Milky Way and space domain awareness.
Simon received his PhD from the University of Tasmania in 1996 and was promoted to Professor in Physics in 2015. He was the Dean of School for the School of Natural Sciences from July 2019-March 2024.
Simon commenced as Executive Director at the International Centre for Radio Astronomy Research (ICRAR) in April 2024.
