Robert is the acting Deputy Secretary of our Resources and Strategy Group.

He is a senior executive leader with over 25 years of experience in developing and implementing major policy reform.

In February 2023, Robert joined the department as the Head of the Oil and Gas Division. Before that, he held senior roles in both Fiscal and Markets groups at the Department of the Treasury. Robert also worked on the personal staff of multiple federal treasurers, where he developed and implemented tax and superannuation policy.

Robert’s career includes a role as Head of International Government Affairs at one of Australia’s largest banks. He also held a senior executive position at a not-for-profit professional association. Robert holds degrees in Law and Science from the Australian National University. He is a barrister and solicitor of the High Court of Australia.
