You can have your reference standards and reference materials from another country officially recognised in Australia. This means you don't need to have them calibrated or certified again before using them in Australia.
We charge a fee to assess each application. The fee depends on how long it takes to assess and is charged at $509 per hour.
You can request a written notice for one of the following:
- a reference standard of measurement that has been verified in a foreign country
- a measuring instrument that has been certified in a foreign country
- a reference material that is certified in a foreign country.
When submitting your application, you must include:
- a description of the foreign reference standard measuring instrument or reference material
- a description of the use, storage, and transport of the standard of measurement, measuring instrument or reference material
- the latest calibration report or certificate issued, and if available, any previous calibration reports or certificates.
Email your application to nmilegalmetrologypolicy@measurement.gov.au.
