Approving authorities 

Approving authorities conduct pattern approval testing of certain measuring instruments used for trade or regulatory purposes.

Contact an approving authority to test your instrument prototypes for:

  • electricity meters
  • water meters
  • evidential breath-alcohol analysers.

How to apply to become an approving authority

  • Email nalma@measurement.gov.au for an application form.
  • We generally appoint approving authorities for 3 years. 
  • Pay an application fee of $4214 (GST exempt).
